Healing out loud because I nearly died in silence. The walls I hit were invisible to others but crushing to me. I wasn’t prepared for what lay ahead, but I had a sense that magic mushrooms could offer a path to healing. These golden gems, which grow by the oceanside here in the fall at WoW, became my unexpected guides. Through their gentle power, I found clarity, relief, and a way to face the trauma I didn’t even know I carried. This post shares my journey, hoping to help others avoid the same dark places and discover their own light.

Discovering the Hidden Trauma

For years, I struggled daily without understanding why. Anxiety, depression, and a shadow of trauma clouded my life. It wasn’t until I experienced magic mushrooms that I realized how deeply trauma had shaped my world. The mushrooms gently peeled back my mask and lowered my defenses, revealing the parts of myself that needed attention and care.

I learned that trauma often hides beneath the surface, especially memories blocked from childhood to protect us. For many, especially children under seven, trauma creates barriers in the brain that keep painful memories locked away. Magic mushrooms, particularly in a heroic dose of 4 to 7 grams, can unlock these memories one by one. This process allows you to face fears, reframe your story, and release what no longer serves you.

How Magic Mushrooms Work in the Brain

The main active compound in magic mushrooms, psilocybin, interacts with serotonin receptors in the brain. This interaction helps improve mood, perception, and cognition. Psilocybin also disrupts the brain’s default mode network, the part responsible for repetitive thoughts and mental loops. By interrupting this network, mushrooms increase mindfulness and introspection, helping you see your life from a fresh perspective.

Research shows that psilocybin boosts neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to form new connections. This means it can help change thought patterns and behaviors that have been stuck for years. Watching experts like Andrew Huberman and Joe Dispenza on YouTube helped me understand the science behind these effects and gave me hope that healing was possible.

My Journey with Magic Mushrooms

I wasn’t new to mushrooms; I had some experience, but this time was different. The mushrooms didn’t just offer a trip; they offered a mirror. They showed me the trauma I carried silently and helped me understand how it affected my life. With each session, I uncovered memories and fears that had shaped my behavior and self-image.

One of the most powerful moments was realizing how my body held onto trauma. My osteopathic doctor explained how trauma stays in the body, influencing health and emotions. This insight, combined with the mushrooms’ effects, helped me drop pharmaceuticals and addictions that had kept me trapped for decades.

Healing didn’t happen overnight. It was a process of patience, self-compassion, and courage. The mushrooms opened doors, but I had to walk through them. I learned to nurture myself, to listen deeply, and to rebuild my life from a place of love.

Practical Tips for Those Considering Magic Mushrooms

If you feel drawn to explore magic mushrooms for healing, here are some important points to keep in mind:

  • Start with research: Learn about psilocybin, its effects, and the science behind it. Trusted sources and experts can provide valuable insights.

  • Set a safe environment: Choose a calm, comfortable place where you feel secure. Having a trusted guide or sitter can help.

  • Prepare mentally and emotionally: Reflect on your intentions and be ready to face whatever arises with openness.

  • Respect the dose: A heroic dose (4-7 grams) can be intense. Start lower if you’re new and increase carefully.

  • Integrate the experience: Healing continues after the trip. Journaling, therapy, or talking with supportive people can help process insights.

  • Consult professionals: If you have a history of mental health conditions, speak with a healthcare provider before trying mushrooms.

The Power of Nature’s Medicine

Magic mushrooms are not a quick fix or a cure-all. They are tools that can unlock deep healing when used with respect and care. For me, they were nature’s medicine, revealing the trauma I didn’t know I carried and helping me find my true self beneath the pain.

I am grateful for the mushrooms, the ocean air at WoW, and the support of my osteopath doctor who helped me understand how trauma affects the body. Together, these elements helped me step out of a 40-year dark cave and into the light of healing.

Where dose one find if not grown near us? Does it have a cannabis effect?

Does NOT have a cannabis effect, and mushrooms are legal in many states and provinces, with new clinical trials opening regularly across the globe for treatment with PTSD, Depression, anxiety, trauma, and end-of-life fear. Psilocybin feels like you are looking at yourself through a mirror except you are the mirror looking back at yourself.
